ArtStart programs are coordinated by community organisations across 23 areas in NSW. ArtStart program guidelines are flexible, allowing community organisations to respond creatively to the diverse interests and needs of their communities. Mid North Coast
Bush circus, performance skills, video production and Indigenous projects are being offered as part of the Arts Mid North Coast ArtStart program.

Northern Rivers
In 2009 we offered ran a small grants round, inviting applications from youth and community organisations. Seven great projects were selected for funding, all addressing the theme of 'Unique & Invited' or 'U & I'.

Upper Hunter
A series of creative development retreats for young people across the hunter. These retreats will provide a variety of workshops in response to requests by young people. A small grants round will support young people to run projects in their communities using skills learnt at the retreats.

Central Coast
This year’s ArtStart was designed to be smaller, but it didn’t quite work out that way! With the focus on more intensive skills development, 196 young people participated in the workshops, 188 attended the festival events, over 219 hours of workshop/events, 13 different locations, link ups with over 30 service providers/schools and strong media coverage from the local press and radio stations illustrates the success of this program.

Southern Tablelands
The ArtStart 09 program is being co-coordinated by Southern Tablelands Arts (STARTS), South East Arts (SEAR) and Southern Councils, covering a massive seventeen local government areas. Each of the coordinating partners are running individual programs. For example: Shoalhaven City Council Reduce are engaging in a re use & recycle art project. STARTS will be running Film Education workshops and festivals, as well as a Youth Theatre Forum.
