Areas Covered: Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Lachlan, City of Lithgow, Oberon, Orange, Parkes and Wellington.
Our Approach
Our ArtStart program includes hip-hop, drumming, stencilling, performance, design, jewellery, photography and DJing workshops. Nine projects have been funded and over 300 young people are involved.

About this Project?
19 young people attended a 2 day workshop with Sydney stencil artist Jason Wing. This project introduced participants to the basic skills, processes and techniques used in the production of stencil art. Young people designed, created and applied their own stencil art to a variety of media - T.shirts, surfaces at the local skate park, and their own skate decks.

About this Project?
10 young people in the Blayney Shire worked with local artist Nyree Reynolds and photographer Zenio Lapka to create artwork documenting images of Blayney. This project will provide young people with the following skills: design,communication, photography, introduction to print process, project management skills, develop a sense of community. The work is currently on display in the Blayney Shire offices.

5 weekends of workshops with Jacqui Cornforth, involving Cowra based dance groups (including 2 indigenous groups) involving collaboration within the groups. This resulted in 2 performances with 20 of the participants, one of these performances was at the ArtStart showcase at Catapult Festival on the 16 September.

230 young people participated in this project which included workshops in Oberon High School and St Josephs School as well as weekend classes. Young people were given an introduction to hip hop. Outcomes for the young people included:gaining an understanding of musical phrasing, working together as a team, self confidence, the ability to practice, revise and retain information. This project provided young people in Orange with the opportunity to learn new skills, biuld self confidence, show participants that they can organise events themselves that they enjoy. The participants performed for their friends and families at the end of the workshop.

About this Project?
A series of youth workshops ran through August and October and culminated in the River Dreaming festival on November 10th in Bathurst. Workshops included:Hip Hop and video production, Junk music and drumming. A total of 37 young people people participated. The workshops aimed to develop self confidence, share skills, build relationships, and create respect for the diversity of culture in Bathurst. They also heightened the profile of indigenous youth as a voice for change and future community development. About this Project?
This program provided disadvataged girls with information, assistance and support to improve their self esteem, self worth, creative skills and general health. The GO Program developed creative skills and imagination through using art and craft activities as a form of personal expression. The art component included jewellery making, photography and collage.
