Condobolin - Drama and Performance Workshops

About this Project?

A 3-day drama workshop at two locations with two different groups. Daily sessions will be run by Sarah Parsons and assistant Sally Ried in the Community Centre in the mornings and in the afternoons Goanna Manor.  This formula has been delivered previously as the ‘No Shame’ project. Youth from the Condobolin community have stressed the desire to expand on skills previously taught and try and create methods of sustaining local/casual drama classes.

Chris Tamm a Sydney-based artist and designer is hosting a 2-day workshop addressing aerosol street art. The aim of this project is for the attending youth to produce a piece of work that will be able to be used as a public sign for the Grenfell Community Health Centre.
The aim of this workshop is to teach and learn a new artistic skill, produce a community artwork as a group and to increase the community and youth awareness of the services provided by Grenfell Health.

OBERON

ArtStart is embarking on a project with Veritas House (Bathurst) to deliver an 8-week project addressing ‘building positive relationships’ within the Oberon High School curriculum. The program will run every second week for 3 months on both the Monday and Friday. The participants will be all current year-nine students.

Monday sessions will be run by Lisa Lantry  (Veritas House) and will be addressing various health issues, guest speakers will be providing addtional insight into specialty areas.

The Friday sessions will be used as a workshop session where previously discussed issues and themes will be analyzed and developed using various theatre/drama/art methods. These sessions will be facilitated by Toby Finlayson, Rohan Smyth and  by Lisa Lantry.

Orange - Media and Event Mentoring Program

ArtStart is assisting the Freshly Plucked Committee further develop their skills in event/arts and business management. This is a group of young people, late teens to early twenties who are the key organizers in the Orange Freshly Plucked Music Festival. 
Freshly Plucked is an all ages event that has been held annually for the last couple of years and they are keen to continue learning and developing this community festival. ArtStart has arranged to assist them through a couple of different ventures those being; mentoring program with current Village Fair team, training and development workshops with local industry media workers and funding casual study opportunities at the range Community College.

Two, 2-day drama/theatre skill workshops for 14 – 17 year olds to be run in the Parkes Theatre, so overall 4 days of workshops.
The reason for dividing the 4 days into two separate groups was to maximize the potential participants. Bathurst Theatre Company will have an outreach theatre facilitator at the same time running similar workshops for a younger demographic.
