Our Approach Our small grants program is supporting young musicians, helping with performance costs and funding workshops in a range of artforms such as printmaking, sculpture, circus skills, hip hop, photography and public art. Overall, 20 organisations were funded and over 450 young people are involved.

French horn development program with Robert Johnson (principle Horn SSO). Hip-hop, Skate & Legal Graffiti

The project is designed to encourage young people in Uralla who currently gather at the skate park in reasonably large numbers (12-20) on most afternoons after school. The project involves the construction and painting of a permanent mural wall; to provide instruction in legal mural/graffiti art; a skate comp; and turn table/hip hop workshops. The skate comp will be at night and also involve lighting and projection of images.

Jolly Phonics Pathway

An artist will work with senior Armidale City Public School students to design a functional public artwork for the school playground - a Jolly Phonics Pathway. The pathway will depict images and actions from the Jolly Phonics Program used by Early Stage One students in the classroom. Jolly Phonics uses images, sounds and actions to teach letters and sounds.

To run a set of cultural workshops for aboriginal youth in Tenterfield that brings together Bundjalung and Kamilaroi youth in a learning and sharing exchange. Two Tribes meet will involve painting, story telling (a sense of place), cultural dance, explore (traditional language) music/song, and rhythmic sound. A combination of these elements will serve as the foundation for a group devised performance which will feature as part of the NAIDOC week celebrations.
